Deep Purple have released “Arrogant Boy,” the first single from their recently announced studio album SPLAT!, which is due in stores on July 3.

The brisk three-minute long “Arrogant Boy” finds drummer Ian Paice, bassist Roger Glover, keyboardist Don Airey and guitarist Simon McBride deftly navigating a series of complex turns together, while singer Ian Gillan celebrates the chaos brought by an unhappy young man.

“‘Arrogant Boy’ is the story of Billy, who couldn’t read or write,” Gillian explains in a press release. “He is unhappy with things, so he speaks up, and finds a way of irritating, one way or another, the elite. And I can’t think of anything more fun than irritating the elite. It would be a joyous exercise for me every morning after coffee.”

SPLAT!, the band’s 24th studio album and their sixth straight to be produced by Bob Ezrin, is said to feature a unique point of view.

“Rather than treating the end [of the world] as destruction, the album imagines it as transformation,” Gillan explained in a press release announcing the album. “SPLAT! explores the end of humanity not in any crude apocalyptic sense but as a metamorphosis beyond physical existence.”

Deep Purple will mount a massive world tour in 2026, traveling all over Europe in June and July, visiting the United States in August and September before returning to Europe and the UK in the fall. You can see their complete tour itinerary below.
