YUNGBLUD has been rubbing shoulders with many a superstar over the last 12 months, but one in particular that got in touch certainly took him by surprise.

Speaking to Rock Sound as he is awarded Best British Artist at the Rock Sound Awards 2025, Dom reveals that none other than Robbie Williams got in touch with him.
Sending a letter, it seems that the pop sensation clearly saw a lot of himself in what YUNGBLUD has built, both from a musical standpoint and from a personal one. A life in front of the camera, always under ridicule, can weigh heavily on someone. Sharing some advice and reminding them never to let anyone dull their sparkle, Dom had this to say about the interaction.
He wrote the letter about authenticity and how many times people have questioned him, and why. He opened it by saying, ‘Here is a 28-year-old unusual boy. And I don’t mean to call him a boy out of a patronising extent, I mean to call him a boy because I have also been in his shoes. Trying to figure out who he is and what he means to the world, what he means to himself. What he means to his mother, to his lover, to his best mate, and what that means when it is scrutinised under a microscope and objectified and becomes the basis for an article or a conversation down the pub. How do you take that as an artist? It either destroys you or it makes you who you are.’
It’s so funny when you look at these characters, and you see them in the same box. I see Ozzy in the same box as Robbie in the same box as Bowie, in the same box as Madonna, in the same box as Axl. They have all come from a position that the more truthful you are, the more fake you appear. We are taught to dilute and condition ourselves into not giving too much away. A million of us have numerous thoughts about the way we live every single day, and those thoughts often contradict themselves the next day.
That’s why people like Ozzy and Robbie have been such pillars for me in my life. They have always been themselves, even if they were completely lost at the time. What I want to be able to say to someone like Robbie is that they will never understand what these words they have said to me mean to me, but they should know that they aren’t even close to being at the end of their own journey. And I hope that he can be hailed as a Bowie or an Ozzy in the years to come, because all of that happens in hindsight. It occurs when people look back. People hated these unfiltered truth-tellers from a million different perspectives.
But if you are completely truthful, you are just open to that questioning of authenticity. That’s just how it is.
A beautiful sentiment, one that has clearly bridged generations and will remain relevant for years to come.
Dom recently joined forces with another legendary artist in the form of The Smashing Pumpkins for a fresh version of their track ‘Zombie’.
