Sublime Unveil Nostalgic Single ‘Can’t Miss You’

Sublime have given us another taste of their first album in thirty years, and it’s one for all the old-school fans.
Set to drop on June 12 via Atlantic Records, ‘Until The Sun Explodes’ is the band’s first full-length release since 1996, and first with Jakob Nowell on vocals.
Today (May 15), we’ve been treated to ‘Can’t Miss You’, a surprise single that has arrived with no fanfare or long-winded marketing campaign. An intentional move made to honour the connection between the band and the fans who have stood by them over the years, it makes the emotion of the track feel all the more special.
Speaking on the release, Jakob Nowell has shared:
“We just wanted to drop this one for the hardcore fans. No lead in or marketing push behind it. Can’t Miss You is probably my favorite track on the record. It was one of those magic songs that got written in a day. The strange chord progression was definitely inspired by my father’s songwriting, especially songs like Pool Shark and STP. Classic Sublime always had this feeling like you never knew where the song was going to take you. I look towards my father’s work for guidance at every turn, and Can’t Miss You is a perfect example of that. The lyrics of this single are some that I am the most proud of. I hope people will find escape in the stories of this song and the entire record Until the Sun Explodes.”

‘Until The Sun Explodes’ is Sublime’s first body of work to feature Jakob on vocals, who is the son of the band’s original vocalist, the late Bradley Nowell. The collection of songs serves as a tribute to his memory and incredible lasting legacy, as well as a statement of intent as they look to the future.
The band are one of the latest Rock Sound cover stars, celebrating 30 years of culture, family and music.

Sublime will be making their way over to the UK for the very first time later this month, when they will be playing Slam Dunk Festival on May 23 in Hatfield and May 24 in Leeds.
