A few months back, legendary grunge band Pearl Jam faced backlash from the fans as the tickets for their world tour went on sale for an expensive price. Eddie Vedder-led band are set to play Manchester Co-op Live and London Tottenham Hotspur Stadium later this month, where ticket prices started at a whopping price of £157.75. Fans in the US and Ireland were also faced with similar prices.
Pearl Jam ticket prices drop
Well, it has come to light the prices of the tickets have dropped drastically. It is noted that if the fans book their tickets by July 5, they will get them at £63 (plus fees).
Fans had been expressing their frustrations at the tour’s steep prices with many admitting they regrettably won’t be able to afford it. Now, Pearl Jam has resolved their issue.
Recent years have seen an exponential increase in the expense of live music performances, evidence points to growing energy and the fuel costs that has led to increase in touring costs. Touring has been the primary means of support for musicians these days. Since many fans cannot afford such ticket prices, it certainly raises the question of whether any of it is sustainable.
Live music events continue to remain the most popular events in the UK, despite record pricing. However, with ticket prices reaching triple digits, some fans will always be unable to attend.
Well, this is not the first tour tour to come under the radar where pricing is concerned. Tickets to Adele’s Las Vegas residency this year started at a whopping $430, going up to thousands of dollars.
This is Pearl Jam’s Dark Matter tour which celebrates the release of the band’s 12th studio album. As per the guitarist Mike McCready, the album is “a lot heavier” than fans may expect, and it only took three weeks to make.
Pearl Jam are set to hit the road again on June 22 with a show at Dublin, Ireland’s Marlay Park, opening a nine-stop European tour that will keep the band on the road through July 13. Following that, the group will return to the U.S., gracing high-profile stages in August and September. For more information on the Dark Matter World Tour, visit pearljam.com/tour.
