A shopping cart, cowboy boots and a look that suggests somebody has had quite enough. BRÍET’s official photograph has our attention before we have even reached the play button.

Now the Icelandic singer-songwriter is heading to Orlando with Daði Freyr, and we want to get properly acquainted. She lists The Plaza Live on October 2 among her support dates. That gives us a lovely excuse to spend some time with the artist whose name shares Friday’s bill.

Heartbreak, with room to move

Start with Kveðja, Bríet, her 2020 solo album. “Hann Er Ekki Þú” is one place to begin; let the record lead you from there. Then jump to Bríet – Act I, the six-song EP released in November 2025. Same artist, another door open.

In a 2025 interview with The Reykjavík Grapevine, BRÍET described returning to singer-songwriter and pop territory, with a little country in the picture, while writing in English. She also talked about time spent writing in Nashville. The cowboy boots suddenly make a little more sense.

“Cowboy Killer” is a wonderfully wicked title for that introduction. The official video is below. We do appreciate a little trouble with our pop music.

A song became an album. Then a film.

Her partnership with Icelandic rapper Birnir took a different route. Their 2024 album 1000 orð came with a short film. BRÍET told the Grapevine that the project began with plans for one song before expanding into a record and a larger visual piece. The publication describes its dance-driven music and choreographed film—a rather exciting detour from a modest starting point.

That ambition interests us. Give a feeling a song, then give the song a whole world to live in. There is plenty here for the ears and the eyes.

For a more recent collaboration, “gleymmérei,” with KK, arrived in February 2026. Put it alongside the Birnir project and Act I for a little BRÍET exploration before Friday.

See you at The Plaza

Daði brings us to the party; getting to know BRÍET makes the invitation even better. Her confirmed connection to this tour is as its support artist, with her own catalogue to bring into the room. We are looking forward to hearing what she chooses.

Make an evening of it. Bring your curiosity along with your dancing shoes.
