Bears In Trees Announce New Album ‘How to Build an Ocean: Instructions’

Bears In Trees have delivered a triple whammy of news: a new album, announced via lead single ‘Things That Look Like Mistakes’, and a co-headline tour.

The self-proclaimed “dirtbag boyband” from Croydon have their new record arriving April 26 via I Sure Hope It Does.

The album’s first slice is an upbeat slice of indie-rock that delivers a particularly optimistic message, as vocalist Iain Gillespie explains:

“It’s easy to fall for cynicism, become burnt out searching for answers that aren’t there, or become overwhelmed by existence.

“This song is about slowing down, stepping back, and reconnecting with the small moments of joy in your life. dancing in your socks with a glass of wine. Going to concerts. Really listening to nature’s stirring.

“It may not be a permanent solution to feeling a lack of meaning in life, but remembering to embody those moments of peace is important.”

‘How To Build An Ocean: Instructions’ is said to be littered with references to film, literature and philosophy, and was produced by George Perks (whose prior credits include Enter Shikari, The Doves, You Me At Six),

And as well as new album news, the band will also be heading out on the road for a co-headline tour with The Happy Fits, for a run of seven UK dates.

Speaking further about where they are as a band and their further ambitions, Iain has added:

“We started the band because we loved hanging out with our friends and wanted to make stupid music together.

“That’s always been the reason, and it hasn’t changed. All we want to do is make what we do as honest and authentic as possible. That’s what it means to be in the Bears in Trees business.”
