Tool Members Share Hilarious Moment During Concert

Tool recently performed at the Ziggo Dome in the Netherlands on May 27. Fans noted that the band frontman Maynard James Keenan whispered into the mic “Danny what the f**k are you doing?”

Hilarious moment between Maynard James Keenan and Danny Carey

One fan noted that the incident transpired between Rosetta Stoned and Intolerance. Justin was riffing for a while and he was seemingly coming towards his natural conclusion. However, nothing was happening to progress to the next song.

It got pretty quiet and that’s when Maynard whispered (loudly enough for everyone to hear) into the mic “Danny what the f**k are you doing?”. Danny peaked from behind the drum set and, startled, started counting in the next song. Danny needed some equipment on the floor adjusted, so he crawled down a bit and started doing something there. Thus it took a few more seconds than usual and that’s why Maynard sounded a little curious

Meanwhile, Maynard James Keenan and guitarist Adam Jones reflected on Tool’s lengthy creative process to make an album. They also explained why some of their albums took so long to make.

Tool took a 13-year gap between 2006’s “10,000 Days” and the alt-metal behemoths’ latest brainchild “Fear Inoculum”. They were recently asked when the next album going to drop.

“After those early years when we were a new band, it’s a little easier, stuff comes a little more naturally when you’re writing music. And obviously, it’s gotten famously labored, our creative process”, Justin Chancellor said last year, noting in a separate interview that given he and his bandmates aren’t exactly spring chickens anymore, the wait for the next LP is bound to be shorter.

Speaking to Metal Hammer in a new interview, however, Maynard James Keenan noted that Tool is a much trickier endeavor than, say, his other band Puscifer, hence the longer waits:

“Tool is a more complicated beast with a lot of egos and a lot of other things going on in our lives. But all the creativity’s there, the songs and the ideas can flow and the arguments ensue. As soon as we get past the arguments, we can get shit done! Ha ha ha! I think we could do it more efficiently. And I think everyone’s on the same page that we have to get through that, because we can’t drag this out another 14 years.”

Danny Carey had also shared a similar point of view, after outling the journey each song undergoes from its inception to the final product:

“It’s painstaking, but the end result is we’re all completely committed to our parts and we all have belief in what we’re playing, ’cause it’s been through the filter, so it’s good in that way. Then once we get there, though, we lay it on Maynard. And we’ll make some adjustments, of course, if he wants to dig in and sing another verse or extend the things; I mean, we’re flexible.”
