Set It Off have dropped a new, horror-inspired single, aptly titled ‘Creating Monsters’.
With a bouncy musical style reminiscent of their ‘Duality’-era, the track was co-written with Point North‘s Jon Lundin who the band previously collaborated with on the single ‘Punching Bag’.
Speaking about the new single Cody Carson said “The original voice memo for the ‘Creating Monsters’ concept is called ‘Big band metal!!! DO THIS!!!’. It was a BLAST writing it! We were writing a big band jazz rock song, but with heavy rock.”
On the story behind the song, he explains: “Part of the battle with anxiety is being around people that don’t deal with it, and don’t understand. So we came up with the idea that it’s like creating a room full of monsters that only you can see. This song is about the prolonged battle with anxiety, as well as the will to fight back.
I want people to hear this and know they’re not alone in their struggle, but also be able to use it as a tool to somewhat come to terms with it, laugh it off in a way, and celebrate that we’re still fighting the good fight.”
