Power Trip Are Back With Two Brand New Tracks “Precinct 3” & “Scavenger”

A pair of new singles from crossover outfit Power Trip have now premiered online. The band gave “Precinct 3” and “Scavenger” their first spins on SiriusXM this week ahead of their official debut today, streaming via YouTube and Spotify for you now below. The tracks were co-produced by the group’s own Blake Ibanez and Jacob Hansen (The Black Dahlia Murder, Volbeat), who also handled mixing and mastering duties on the comeback material.

Drummer Chris Ulsh commented:

“Recording worked out really well for us because he has the knowledge of making these big records, but also comes from the late 80’s extreme metal underground. We’re tough to please because we want something that sounds current, but most importantly we want it to sound like us, however that comes out.”

Ibanez added:

“When we were writing this, we wondered what Riley would have wanted to write about. So once we decided on that approach, it honestly came really easily– the lyrics were flowing and it just felt like the right way to kick off this new chapter and honor him. I think he would have been stoked to see it come to fruition.”

Gilmore shared the following about “Scavenger”:

“There are people out there that ride along and develop some sort of self-importance from association. And from there, they wield that in the wrong directions. Or maybe even against the same people they leeched it from.”

A music video for “Precinct 3“, directed by Eric Richter (Evanescence, Knocked Loose), is also available below. Power Trip announced their signing with Blue Grape Music this past March. The label venture has ties to the original Roadrunner Records staff.

Following the 2020 death of vocalist Riley Gale, the Texas natives regrouped several years later, with Skourge frontman Seth Gilmore taking over vocal duties. Although the band have been touring since their return, these two tracks mark their first new material since reuniting. More is on the horizon, as Power Trip began working on new music over a year ago and are expected to release their next studio album in spring 2027.

Vinyl editions of the two singles are available via powertrip-official.com, with an exclusive variant also scheduled for this year’s Black Friday Record Store Day event on November 27th.
