MOTHICA has returned with a new track that is as revealing as it is raucous, kicking off a whole new chapter in her story.

The song is called ‘My Confession’, and sits in the realms of atmospheric post-hardcore sonically. Between twinkling verses and bellowing choruses, with a hook that hits like a freight train, it is also MOTHICA at her most candid and real. Using the weight of the track to be as vulnerable as has come to be expected, but doing so with a power and poignancy that hits a whole new level.
She had this to say about it:
‘My Confession’ is one of those rare songs that fell out of the sky. I wrote it as a stream of consciousness, singing a seemingly endless amount of verses that just kept pouring out into my very crappy home recording setup. Lyrically, it changes perspectives from me talking about my fans to talking about past relationships and then about my addiction.
I brought my demo into the studio with producer Elliot Polokoff and co-writer Trever Stewart and we added a chorus that sums up the song: holding onto pain because it’s comfortable. The lyric I am most proud of is: ‘it’s easier when I suffer / gives me reason to bite.’ Sometimes being angry is easier than feeling grief or sadness. And I have sought out chaos because it’s what I am used to. Who would I be if I finally learned my lesson?”
The track follows on from her ‘Somewhere In Between’ EP, which arrived earlier this year. Here is ‘Save Your Roses’:
She joined us for an episode of the 7of30 podcast around its release, which you can check out below:
