Billy Corgan Cancels Show After Sad Health Problem

The Smashing Pumpkins canceled their show in Portland with Jane’s Addiction after Billy Corgan got laryngitis, as seen in a tweet below.

In a new interview with The Guardian, Billy Corgan stated that the initial concept for the new Pumpkins album was met with coldness by his bandmates, with Corgan himself describing his own “sentimentality” toward nodding to the band’s older albums as “unbearable.”

Corgan described the band’s reaction to the triple album as “a big shrug,” adding, “Some of my own sentimentalism, I find it unbearable – like: ‘Oh, jeez, get off the hearts and stars.’”

But every now and then, I find myself searching for something that gives me the same “je ne sais quoi” feeling as watching old silent movies.” Corgan also stated in the interview that the band is now “back to doing what we’re good at.”

Smashing Pumpkins are currently on a North American tour with Jane’s Addiction, which began in early October and will end next week. Tickets are available here and you can see the remaining dates below.
