Pressure

This was the first song written for the album. I was just being as transparent as I possibly could be about how I was feeling taking on this whole new endeavor of signing to a record label and making our first album ever.

Car Crash

To me, this song is about losing yourself in something you know you probably shouldn’t, and realizing how easily desire can make you question your own judgment. The car crash becomes a metaphor for that moment when everything you thought you understood about yourself suddenly gets thrown off course.

Needle Eye

‘Needle Eye’ is about realizing that sometimes the hardest truth to accept is that something you believed in was never going to be what you needed it to be. There’s a lot of self reflection in it too – knowing you’re trying to escape the pain, while also recognizing that the ways you cope can turn you into someone you don’t want to become. 

Chemical Warfare

‘Chemical Warfare’ actually started as a conversation between my friend and I. This, again, was early in the writing process, and I was dealing with a lot of imposter syndrome, just at war with myself and wanting to live up to everyone’s expectations. 

Letdown

We wrote this about finally reaching the breaking point where you realize you’ve been giving someone the power to define your worth, even when they’ve continued to let you down. It’s always been so hard for me to let some people go, even though I know they’re bad for me.

Misery Loves Company

This song is about recognizing when empathy and loyalty have turned into a cage, and realizing that you can’t keep sacrificing yourself to save someone who refuses to save themselves. There’s a moment where sympathy turns into resentment, and you start questioning why you’ve accepted someone else’s chaos as your own responsibility.

Incomplete

‘Incomplete’ is about recognizing the painful cycle of being pulled toward someone who keeps hurting you, and the way that cycle can start to feel like love. It questions the belief that something has to be painful to be meaningful.

Royal Blood

This song is about seeing through the performance of someone who has built their identity around ego, status, and the need to feel above everyone else. 

Neversleep

The producer of our album, Curt Martin, actually had the chorus of this song come to him in a dream, he woke up and voice memo’d it in the middle of the night. I connected super hard with the words in the chorus and we built a concept around it. 

We wrote this song about the aftermath of having your reality constantly questioned by someone you trusted, until you can’t tell what you believe anymore. The noise is that internal battle between what you were told was true and what you know you felt.

The Countdown

This song is about trying to believe in new love while carrying the damage of everything that came before it.

God Complex

‘God Complex’ is meant to showcase the kind of person who turns manipulation into power, twisting trust, love, and even the truth to keep themselves in control.

Lost In Translation

This song is all about losing your sense of reality inside a relationship or situation where you can’t tell what’s the truth, what’s manipulation, and what you’ve convinced yourself to believe. 

Heavy Heart

‘Heavy Heart’ is what it’s like to watch someone you love fall into habits that are killing them and wanting to wake them up so badly, but feeling like there’s nothing you can do.

Paradox

How do you confront the contradiction of wanting to save yourself while also feeling like you’re the person standing in your own way? The “paradox” is that you can desperately want change and still be attached to the thoughts, patterns, and beliefs that keep you stuck. 

Cynical

Cynical was written about somebody that is close to me. She dealt with a really hard upbringing and had every excuse to hate the world and be a negative person. Although she is one of the most positive people that I know and took all of that pain and put it in the right places and became something really beautiful. I just wanted to write a song about how much I admired that.
