The enigmatic Osbourne family, encompassing Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne along with their children Jack and Kelly, have unveiled yet another riveting episode on their resuscitated podcast. This time around, one of the enthralling topics discussed was the outrageous tale from the Motley Crue biopic “The Dirt,” involving Ozzy Osbourne allegedly snorting a line of ants.
In the 2019 Netflix premiere of “The Dirt,” a youthful Ozzy Osbourne, portrayed by Tony Cavalero, engages in an impromptu, grotesque contest with Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx during their joint U.S. tour in 1984. The episode unfolds at a Lakeland, Florida hotel swimming pool, where Ozzy, after a series of outlandish acts, famously snorts a crawling line of ants, followed by an act that need not be described.
During the podcast, the family delved into this infamous event, recounting their perspectives and memories. Sharon Osbourne, grateful to have not witnessed the spectacle, pondered the focus of the promotional campaign for the biopic, questioning why Ozzy was prominently featured rather than the members of Motley Crue. Ozzy, expressing discomfort, redirected the conversation, emphasizing the invasion of privacy surrounding such personal anecdotes.
Via Blabbermouth – Addressing the ant-snorting controversy, Sharon adamantly denied its authenticity, but Ozzy candidly admitted to the shocking act, revealing he was inebriated at the time. The conflicting recollections and interpretations serve as a glimpse into the audacious lifestyle of the rock ‘n’ roll era, further fueling the fascination surrounding Ozzy Osbourne’s legacy.
Asked by Jack if it’s true that Ozzy snorted a line of ants, Sharon said: “I was not there, thank God. I used to try and stay away from Motley when they were with Ozzy. And I don’t know. I honestly don’t know. All I know is that I think it made their movie. And I wanna know why, now we’re on the subject, of why, when they advertise their movie on Netflix, it’s a picture of a guy imitating Ozzy. Why isn’t the ad campaign a picture of Motley Crue? Why is it a picture of your father?”
Jack said: “Well, I know, I know the answer to that. ‘Cause Ozzy Osbourne’s bigger than Motley Crue”
Ozzy replied: “No. No. No. Stop. Stop. Stop. Let’s move on.”
Sharon continued: ” The thing is I just think it’s an invasion.” She then went on to call Sixx an “as*hole.” After Ozzy said, “No, he’s not,” Sharon countered with, “Yes, he f*cking is.”
Pressed by Jack if Ozzy did in fact snort the line of ants, Sharon said, “I say no.” But Ozzy claimed otherwise. “Yes. Yes, I did,” he said. “I was there. I did it. [In] my nostril… I was drunk and I did it.”
Guitarist Jake E. Lee, who was part of Osbourne’s 1984 tour, disputed the tale, clarifying that while Ozzy did ingest a spider, there was no trail of ants present. Despite differing recollections, the outrageous escapades of that era remain etched in the annals of rock history, reminding us of the colorful legacy Ozzy Osbourne continues to carve.
The “urine” portion of the tale was confirmed by Jake, and fans really don’t know what to think about all of this. Of course, Ozzy has always been the face of loveable controversy, but is it too far?
