Sammy Hagar Says Alex Van Halen Disrespected Eddie

Sammy Hagar and Alex Van Halen have been two key figures in one of rock’s greatest bands, Van Halen. But behind the music lies a feud that seems to be growing with time. Sammy Hagar, the Red Rocker himself, has thrown some serious shade at Alex Van Halen, calling him out for failing to honor Eddie Van Halen’s legacy.

It all started with a nostalgic Instagram post. Sammy Hagar shared a photo of himself with Eddie Van Halen, captioned, ‘Walking to the stage in the good old days. I needed to see this photo today to close out this year.’

It was a heartfelt moment for fans, reminiscing about the glory days of Van Halen.

The post soon sparked a conversation among his followers. One user commented, referring to Hagar and Eddie Van Halen, claimed there would never be a better duo than them. One said: “GOATS. There will never be a better duo. You guys will be my forever favorite. I’ll fight someone for that.”

Another user chimed in, bringing Alex Van Halen into the conversation, “No disrespect to Alex but it’s ok to like Van Halen with Sammy even if he doesn’t anymore.”

In response, Hagar didn’t hold back. He said: “It could have my friend but instead we went on to sell over 50 million records for number one album sold out every building and stadium in the world for a whole decade. That never happened again.”

He went on to share his frustration with Alex Van Halen’s reluctance to acknowledge his contributions to the band’s legacy.

He added: “Alex is not doing his brother’s musical legacy justice by not acknowledging all the number one albums and some great music Eddie and I wrote together not Alex! but Eddie and I wrote together. to not acknowledge the 10 years of music is blasphemy to his brother’s musicianship and songwriting and legacy.”

This isn’t the first time Hagar and Alex have taken shots at each other. The feud stretches back decades, fueled by creative differences and personal conflicts. Alex has previously downplayed the Sammy era, claiming that Van Halen lost its spirit when David Lee Roth left the band in 1985—even though the band experienced massive success with Hagar as their frontman.

Fans have been divided over the feud. Some have criticized Alex for dismissing the Sammy years, pointing out that Hagar’s time with the band was filled with record-breaking achievements. Others argue that Alex has the right to focus on the band’s Roth-era origins, which first launched them to stardom.
