Rock Hall of Fame Confirm Who Is Being Blocked

During a new interview with Vulture, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame director John Sykes opened up about some of the biggest music names who have yet to be inducted. Speaking about some of the acts who have been considered, but have not yet made the ballot, Syke revealed that both “Weird Al” Yankovic and the Pixies have been brought up as possibilities – though one is more likely to receive a nomination than the other.

“‘Weird Al’ has come up in conversations. He’s a genius. He has made brilliant versions of the songs, but I’ll be honest: He’s never made it close to the ballot,” Sykes admitted.

“The Pixies have been discussed. There’s been a group of nominees who’ve been passionate about the Pixies. The same thing with Warren Zevon, who actually did get on the ballot one year. I’m passionate about Warren, and he’ll get in, too. But the Pixies have had a lot of support.”

Sykes went on to mention a name who has yet to be inducted, but is more than deserving in his eyes. “I’m going to throw in one who hasn’t gotten in, even though a lot of people have brought up and I’d be supportive of… Joe Cocker. He hasn’t been able to get through, and I think he’s a deserving name,” he said.
