Ren Shares Exploratory New Track ‘Starry Night’

Ren has shared the latest piece of his impressively expansive project ‘Vincent’s Tale’, adding a new four-act track ‘Starry Night’.

To get you all caught up, ‘Vincent’s Tale’, which dropped as an EP earlier this month after six months of build-up, is a story set to music, all about an individual named Vincent. Vincent has clearly been pushed to the edge by the state of things, so much so that he commits an offence and ends up locked away for it. Though Vincent is the true villain, or is it the society that he finds himself in where the blame should be laid?

Well, ‘Starry Night’, as an extension of the EP’s themes, picks up with Vincent in prison, and continuing to try to make sense of what is happening around him. There is some repentence but there is much more anger. Though it all culminates in a fact that we can all relate to. That no matter what, art is what keeps us going. It’s what reminds us what really matters.

That’s a sentiment that further connects the work to Vincent Van Gogh, whose paintings and tragic life have served as an inspiration throughout this whole process. That we may not last ourselves, but the things we create, and subsequently leave behind, are eternal.

Ren had this to say about the track, stating, “Creating this for me was more than making a song, on my first attempt to film this I went temporarily blind in one eye during an autoimmune attack, I ended up in hospital with a flare of brain damage related issues, and had to wait months before attempting again, and there were several very difficult setbacks during the time scraping this together, but I was so adamant to finish it, because it embodied something i’ve been feeling deeply, as a growing feeling for years, that we as a people have created a system of decision making that is making us collapse inward. It’s obvious, everywhere you look.

No matter which side of the political fence you sit, our own value system has turned us into self-cannibalising creatures. I’m sick of the circus. Despite this, I feel hopeful. Every day I meet and see beautiful people, with good intentions, with no desire to tread on their fellow man or woman to get where theyre going, with good thoughts, creative people, people who want to work to make change, and time and time again, we have proved our adaptability, our ability to learn, steer course when we need, admit where we fall short rather than point fingers, and grow. A better way of making decisions on behalf of our entire species exists; we just have to want to build it, and we must build it together.”

And here is the previously released chapter, just in case you need to reacquaint yourself.

Ren will be joining Twenty One Pilots at their massive exclusive UK show at All Points East on August 30. They will also be joined by Wunderhorse, BBNO$, PVRIS, Nova TwinsDead Pony, Kid Kapachi, and LEAP. Tickets are available right now from right here.
