Rage Against The Machine Singer Gets Fancy Dinner In Photo

Rage Against The Machine singer Zack de la Rocha was photographed at a trendy restaurant last night, as seen below.

This month marks the fifteenth anniversary of Rage Against the Machine’s legendary performance on BBC’s 5 Live Breakfast. Before their appearance on the show, singer Zack de la Rocha and the rest of the band were asked not to swear and to change the lyrics to their hit song “Killing in the Name” – which includes the refrain “F**k you, I won’t do what you tell me!”

Instead of complying with BBC’s request, they played the song as is, shouting the uncensored lyric during their live performance.

After the fourth repetition of “F*ck you,” the production team muted their mics and the video feed cut back to the studio. “Sorry, we needed to get rid of that because that suddenly turned into something we weren’t expecting,” the host told listeners immediately following the incident. “Well, we were expecting it and we asked them not to do it and they did it anyway.”

To celebrate this infamous moment, Morello recently took to Twitter/X to explain what transpired after the show:

“15 years ago, Rage Against The Machine went live on BBC 5Live Breakfast. They cut the broadcast when we unexpectedly hit the ‘correct’ lyrics. Surprise! Three days later, YOU shocked the world (and Simon Cowell) and made ‘Killing In The Name’ #1 on the UK pop charts, toppling The X-Factor’s dreary monopoly of the ‘UK Christmas #1.’ 100% of the proceeds of the single were donated to UK homeless charities. ‘Twas a Merry Christmas indeed!”

BBC later issued an apology to their listeners, stating: “5 Live breakfast featured a live broadcast of the song ‘Killing in the Name’ by Rage Against the Machine. We had spoken to the band repeatedly beforehand and they had agreed not to swear. When they did we faded the band out and apologised immediately to anyone who was offended.”
