Trump Skips the Super Bowl

President Donald Trump will not attend the Super Bowl LX this year, even though he made history last year as the first sitting president to go to the game. The Super Bowl will take place on February 8 in California. Trump told the New York Post on January 23 that the event is “just too far away.”

Trump Criticizes the Performers

Trump also shared his strong opinions about the musical performers scheduled for the event. These include Bad Bunny and the band Green Day, both of whom have publicly criticized him in the past.

“I’m anti-them,” Trump said. “I think it’s a terrible choice. All it does is sow hatred. Terrible.” He added that their involvement was not the main reason he chose to skip the game.

Why Bad Bunny and Green Day Are Controversial

Bad Bunny supported Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election and has spoken openly about concerns over U.S. immigration enforcement. He explained that fears related to immigration policies influenced his decision not to include U.S. dates on his recent tour.

“There were many reasons why I didn’t show up in the U.S., and none of them were out of hate,” he told I-D magazine. “But there was the issue of—like, ICE could be outside my concert.”

Green Day has criticized Trump for years. During a New Year’s Eve performance, singer Billie Joe Armstrong changed lyrics in “American Idiot” to take a direct shot at the MAGA movement.

When and Where the Super Bowl Will Take Place

The Super Bowl will be held at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. The teams competing in the championship will be decided after the conference championship games conclude.
