Polyphia’s Tim Henson Shares Debut Solo Track ‘Original Sin’

Polyphia’s Tim Henson has released his first solo piece, and it is, of course, a masterclass in guitar playing and production.

Titled ‘Original Sin’, it features Tim working with his nylon-string guitar, an instrument that last made an appearance on Polyphia’s track ‘Play God’ in 2022, and the result is sensational. Sultry, soulful and brimming with character, it is matched with speaker-smashing bass and electronic textures that intensify the fret-tapping tenfold.

It’s a stunning concoction, one that showcases everything that is brilliant about Tim as a player and as a personality. It is a wonderful way to kickstart a new chapter in his creative endeavours.

Tim had this to say about the song, stating, “‘Original Sin’ started as something digital with synths and keys, but once I translated it to my nylon-string guitar, everything clicked. I wanted to play with contradiction: a waltz that feels like it’s driving forward, something elegant but uncomfortable. Conceptually, it’s about choice. If you’re forced to do the right thing, it doesn’t mean anything. That idea – freedom, temptation, consequence – is something I’ve been thinking about a lot.”

Oh, and the title is also the name of his upcoming clothing brand, so keep an eye out for that in the future. You know it’s going to look amazing.

Polyphia does remain a focus for Tim in 2026, of course. The band released their last album, ‘Remember That You Will Die,’ back in 2022.

Here is the extraordinary ‘Ego Death’, featuring guitar legend Steve Vai.
