Roe V. Wade was sadly overturned by the Supreme Court on June 24 during a landmark decision in the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization case. The ruling left abortion rights up to each individual state rather than providing an overarching protection for abortion access. The ruling also immediately triggered laws in 13 states to instantly ban abortion, while other states have taken a more nuanced approach to their restrictions. This in turn means anyone seeking an abortion may resort to less-than-safe methods and put themselves in real, mortal peril. In short, abortion has never been as unsafe and inaccessible as it is right now.
