Nova Twins Winners Of Best Alternative Award At 2026 MOBOs

Nova Twins were awarded the Best Alternative Award at this year’s MOBOs, a category that they originally campaigned to be added to the yearly celebration of black British music and art.

The band were up against ALT BLK ERA, Blood Orange, Hak Baker, Michael Kiwanuka and Rachel Chinouriri for the award.

During their acceptance speech, Amy Love exclaimed, “Can we thank MOBOs for recognising rock music as black music, because that’s where it originates from.”

Whilst Georgia South added, “We can’t accept this award without thanking all the innovators that came before us. From Skunk Anansie to X-Ray Spex, Tina Turner, Sister Rosetta Tharpe.

Thank you for believing in us and being weird and wonderful with us.”

Nova Twins released their sophomore album ‘Parasites & Butterflies’ last year via Marshall Records. Here is ‘N.O.V.A’ from that very record.

The duo have just finished up a UK tour, but are heading to Europe for a short run of dates next month. Here’s where you can catch them.
