NOFX are gearing up to release a new record, and they are just as self-referential and satirical as ever before.
NOFX are set to release a new album called ‘Double Album’, a follow-up and companion to last year’s ‘Single Album’.
It’s going to be released on December 02 via Fat Wreck Chords.
Fat Mike had this to say about it:
“I wanted to do a double album cuz it’s a challenge and I don’t think there’s any really good double albums out there. Pink Floyd’s The Wall is about it. Quadrophenia is pretty good… if you’re a Who fan. Definitely not [The Beatles’] White Album. I don’t think anybody else has made a good double album. Certainly not Husker Du, Minutemen, or Smashing Pumpkins. I really like Single Album a lot. I like every song, but the songs on Double Album aren’t quite as good. I think it’s a very enjoyable album, and maybe our funniest. I think it is what a lot of our fans will want to hear. I think it’s a great side three and four for a double album. I believe I accomplished my goal of making a solid double-album, but it just took a lot longer than I expected.”
And they’ve shared a new song that’s set to appear on it.
That’s ‘Punk Rock Cliche’, a self-referential, biting and insatiable piece of classic NOFX.
It was actually written in collaboration with Matt Skiba, and was destined to be a song for blink-182’s 2016 album ‘California’.
Here it is:
You can also hear ‘Darby Crashing Your Party’ right now as well:
