Sixx: A.M.’s lead singer James Michael recently spoke to Chuck Shute and discussed his musical career. The talented superstar talked about how Nikki Sixx met him at a record label and was impressed with his work. Sixx offered him the opportunity to write songs for himself and his clients. It was the start of a new partnership that kept going.
In case you don’t know, James founded his band Sixx: A.M. with Nikki Sixx and DJ Ashba in 2007. Michael had worked with numerous rock performers, including Scorpions, Sammy Hagar, and The Rasmus, as a record producer and a songwriter.
James released his debut solo record titled “Inhale” in 2000. He also worked as the lead vocalist and producer for their group’s maiden release, “The Heroin Diaries Soundtrack.” Sixx and Michaels worked together as they co-wrote the lyrics and provided the vocals for the second album, “This Is Gonna Hurt.” Michael also looked at the production section.
Michael has a career where he worked with Papa Roach and Halestorm. He also had his group’s third album for the public in 2014 titled, “Modern Vintage.” Michael and Sixx’s meeting at the record label came about as a blessing for Mötley Crüe, who wanted some songs written by James. Sixx made him an offer he couldn’t refuse and the rest is history.
He wrote some songs for the Mötley Crüe album “New Tattoo” in 2000 and the ninth studio album, “Saints of Los Angeles,” in 2008. He produced the album with DJ Ashba and Nikki Sixx. He even worked with other writers for this album thereby generating opportunities.
