Dave Grohl has reportedly retained a divorce attorney following the announcement that he recently welcomed a child outside of his 21-year marriage as per PEOPLE. Sources close to the situation confirmed the news, though Grohl’s representative has not commented on the matter.
Grohl, 55, and his wife, Jordyn Blum, 48, have been married since 2003 and share three daughters: Violet, 18, Harper, 15, and Ophelia, 10. In a surprising Instagram post on Tuesday, Sept. 10, Grohl revealed that he had fathered a daughter with another woman, whose identity remains undisclosed. Grohl made the announcement on his Dave’s True Stories Instagram page.
In his statement, Grohl expressed his commitment to being a loving and supportive parent to his newborn daughter while also working to regain the trust of his wife and children. He emphasized the importance of protecting their privacy during this difficult time.
Following the news, their eldest daughter, Violet, deactivated her Instagram account, though the timing of this decision is unclear. Violet has previously performed with her father at various events.
Grohl and Blum’s relationship dates back to 2001 when they first met while Blum was working as a producer at MTV. The couple married on August 2, 2003, in a star-studded wedding attended by notable figures, including Clive Davis and Krist Novoselic, Grohl’s former Nirvana bandmate. Grohl has previously credited Blum as the first person he felt comfortable being truly honest with, and she inspired some of his songs, including “Statues” and “Burn Away.”
The pair, who have collaborated on projects like Foo Fighters’ music videos, were last seen together in public in July 2024 at Wimbledon in London. This marks a significant turn for the couple, who have weathered challenges over the years but now face a public and personal crisis as they navigate this new chapter.
