The Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl recently evaded a question about multi-time Grammy winner Taylor Swift on Thursday after he dissed the pop star a month ago.
“A lot of people online thought your statements on Taylor not playing live weren’t fair,” a TMZ paparazzo stated as Grohl walked to his car in Los Angeles.
“Why do you think she doesn’t play live?”
The former Nirvana drummer made a wide-eyed face before he got into the vehicle’s passenger seat as the reporter gave him a chance to “clarify” his previous statement.
Dave Grohl took a shot at Taylor Swift
Grohl grabbed the headlines in June when he implied that Swift does not sing live on her record-breaking Eras Tour. During his performance in Manchester, England, on June 15, Dave Grohl took several moments between songs to comment on the 14-time Grammy winner and her record-breaking Eras Tour.
Grohl said, “See, now I’m feeling like Taylor Swift!”
The frontman added, “I should be so lucky. Listen — tonight, this is my Eras Tour, OK? I’ve got a lot of eras,” Grohl continued. “Spelled e-r-r-o-r-s. This is my ‘Errors Tour,’ how about that?”
“That’s what we should’ve called this f—— tour: The Errors Tour,” he added.
Grohl again spoke about Swift and his “Errors Tour,” joking that it’s a suitable name because of all the errors his band makes while performing live.
“I know we were joking about the Taylor Swift tour earlier. I know that she’s on her Eras Tour,” the rocker said, inciting boos from the crowd. As the jeering continued, Grohl shook his head and said, “I’m telling you man, you don’t want to suffer the wrath of Taylor Swift.”
“So, we like to call our tour the Errors Tour,” he continued, “because I feel like we’ve had more than a few eras and more than a few f—— errors as well. Just a couple.”
He then added, “That’s because we play live.” And, in a sarcastically shocked voice, he added, “What?”
After a quick walk away from the mic he came back and said, “Just sayin’. We’re a live band! You guys like live rock ‘n’ roll music, right? You came to the right f—— place.”
The rock musician’s comment came a day after his bandmate Pat Smear watched the “Bad Blood” singer perform at London’s Wembley Stadium.
While some social media users did not believe Grohl meant any harm, many Swifties slammed him on social media. Grohl’s critical remarks also didn’t sit well with Swift and she seemingly responded to his claims in her ways at her Wembley Stadium stop for her ongoing London Eras Tour.
The “Lover” singer said, “Every one of my band members, every single one of our crew, my band who’s gonna be playing live for you for 3.5 hours tonight, they deserve this so much.”
She added, “And so does every one of my fellow performers. And you just gave that to us so generously, we will never forget it.”
Foo Fighters are currently on their Everything or Nothing at All Tour to support their 11th studio album, “But Here We Are.” The tour started on May 1 in Dallas, Texas, and will culminate on August 18 in Seattle, Washington.
