Lamb Of God Share Punishing New Track ‘Blunt Force Blues’

Lamb of God have shared another piece of their upcoming album ‘Into Oblivion’, and it is further evidence that it will be a bludgeoning affair.

Titled ‘Blunt Force Blues’, it is a song that batters in name as well as nature. A blend of all of the spiralling riffs and guttural howls that have defined the band’s influential sound for the last two decades, it rolls back the years as much as it plants the fork firmly in the road in the modern day. A masterclass in mayhem, it further cements the band’s place as one of metal’s savage and sensational assets, still raising the bar for everyone else as if it’s second nature.

According to the band, they drew inspiration for the track from their experiences cutting their teeth in the local scene in Richmond, VA.

Vocalist Randy Blthye begins:

“We learned how to play by watching and hanging out with other local dudes. That’s what we aspired to do – keep up with good local bands. They were just as much of an influence on us as any of the bigger bands from different cities.”

Whilst guitarist Mark Morton had this to add on where it fits into the ethos of this new record:

“For me, the album is about having the space to breathe creatively and not feeling like we have to keep up with any trend or expectation. It feels nice to be untethered from any agenda beyond rallying around the notion of, ‘Let’s just make music that we think is cool,’ which is really where it all started.”

‘Into Oblivion’ is set for release on March 13 via Century Media Records.

Lamb of God are set to headline the 25th anniversary edition of Bloodstock this Summer. They join the likes of Judas Priest, Bleed From Within, Of Mice & Men, Northlane, Fit For An Autopsy, Body Count, Graphic Nature, and so many more.
