The Molotovs and Only The Poets have achieved some big things with their debut albums, both securing spots in the UK Top 10.

Thanks to information provided by the Official Charts Company, we now know that The Molotovs have placed at No.03 with ‘Wasted On Youth’, only being beaten by Lily Allen’s ‘West End Girl’ and Olivia Dean’s ‘The Art Of Loving’.
Issey and Matt Cartlidge had this to say about the achievement, stating “We are incredibly proud for our debut album to go straight into the top 3 of the Official UK Albums Chart. We would like to thank all the fans who have bought the record and tickets to see us live. Our audience has been built through authentic connections with fans at shows. Very excited for what’s to come.‘”

Whilst Only The Poets’ ‘And I’d Do It Again’ placed at No.09, one spot up from where it sat in the midweek chart update. It comes in the week they also sold out London’s Brixton Academy, with tickets priced at just £1.
The band had this to say about the accolade, stating, “This was only possible because of our fans. This is their Top 10 album, and we can’t thank them enough for getting us here.”
When we spoke to vocalist Tommy Longhurst earlier this week, he had this to say about how it felt to have fans rallying around the band so much:
We played Manchester and Reading over the weekend when the album was released, and it was amazing to see how the fans would react to certain ones and how much they’ve learned the words already, which is unbelievable. But we always say, they spend so much of their time thanking us, but we always remind them that we are so thankful for them, and they should be proud of the community they built around us. We hear these beautiful stories of people that come from all over Europe and the UK, that come together for a show so it becomes a safe space for them. One of my favourite things is when they don’t even look at us. They’ll be in their circle and we’re soundtracking the experience they’re having together. I think that is incredible. It’s for them. It’s their thing, their friendship, their night. Talking to them all today, it’s lovely to hear what songs have resonated with them on a personal note. And that’s what we love about music. When you hear how songs sit with people, it’s often completely different to how you intended it or how you thought about it when you wrote it. And that’s the beautiful thing, right? You put out an album and we’re not going to tell people how to listen to it. Just take what you what you want and immerse yourself in it.
Both bands are going on tour this year as well.
Only The Poets will be heading across Europe in April.
