James Marriott has revealed that he will officially release fan favourite ‘California Rain’ at the start of 2026.

The song has been a staple in James’ set for the past two months of touring, quickly becoming a hit with fans on both sides of the Atlantic. Now he has revealed that it will be released properly in the world on January 02. The announcement was made to those at his show at London’s Roundhouse last night (Decembr 11), with plenty of confetti and QR codes pointing to where it could be pre-saved and physical copies ordered.

During a performance of the song in Dallas on October 12, which was recorded and released on SoundCloud, James had this to say about the origins of the song:

“This is a song that was written in Idaho firstly. Then we practised it in Seattle. And I wrote the lyrics in California about this country and about these shows.”

So, a love letter to a country that has welcomed him with open arms and hearts, as well as to the fact that music can take you to some pretty amazing places.
