The Pretty Reckless Perform ‘Where Are You Christmas?’ On Jimmy Kimmel Live

The Pretty Reckless have brought their updated version of Taylor Momsen’s childhood festive classic ‘Where Are You Christmas?’ to late-night TV.

Originally performed by Momsen during her role as Cindy Lou Who 25 years ago in How The Grinch Stole Christmas, it has been re-recorded and given a razor-sharp rock edge, appearing on the Holiday EP ‘Taylor Momsen’s Pretty Reckless Christmas’.

And now, with the big day being so close, the band have appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live to give it a proper run-through. And no surprises, it is absolutely joyous.

The song itself embodies all of the existential thoughtfulness of the original, but with the gritty angst of Joan Jett And The Blackhearts and the heart-on-sleeve earnestness of Bruce Springsteen, thanks in part to the ripping sax solo at the end.

And performance-wise, you can see just how much fun Taylor is having with it. Taking back ownership of a moment in her life in the most in a way that feels in line with who she is now, you can’t rub the smile off her face.

So if you’re head over heels for the band or have a soft spot for Jim Carrey, there’s a little bit of something for everyone here.

‘Taylor Momsen’s Pretty Reckless Christmas’ is out now via Fearless Records, and has plenty of alternative Xmas energy coursing through it.
