Mick Jagger Rejected In Studio By Singer: ‘Stop’

The Rolling Stones member Bernard Fowler recently joined in for an interview with Rolling Stone and he said that he would perhaps become a victim of being thought of as “Mick’s guy.”

Bernard Fowler labels Keith Richards as ‘bad man’

During the interview, he recalled how he had never met any of the band members in the initial days. He spoke about having a word with band frontman Mick Jagger. He had gone into the studio for singing but it didn’t feel right to him.

He felt underconfident but Jagger was happy with the outcome. He had pitched the idea that if Jagger and the others joined in it would sound better.

He recalled:

“I had never met any of [the others], and then they walked into the studio one by one. Mick and were I throwing some ideas down for a song. I go into the studio and I started singing, but it didn’t feel right to me. I remember saying, ‘Stop, stop. Stop the tape.’ Mick was like, ‘What’s up? It’s going good.’ I said, ‘Mick, I’m happy to do this for you.

He added: “But if I do this, it’s going to sound like me. Maybe you and some of the guys can come in and sing with me.’ Radio silence. I guess they were talking about it. But then Ronnie [Wood] and Keith came in.”

He then reminisced how intimidated he was when Keith Richard had walked in. He said:

Fowler gave the duo vocal parts to perform, then they went to listen to the playback. “I’m standing there and I look to my left and Keith is staring at me,” he continued. “It didn’t feel good. It was the first time I met him. Yes, I’m intimidated. That’s f***in’ Keith Richards. He’s a bad man. … I’m thinking to myself, ‘Oh, shit. Here we go. What the f**k is going to happen?’”

The Rolling Stones have seemingly got Keith Richards to play some bass. The bassist has revealed that he’s been “playing a lot of bass” on The Rolling Stones’ upcoming new material. Keith Richards recently spoke about spending a week in Jamaica to work on music with Stones frontman Mick Jagger.
