Softcult Release Vital New Track ‘Dress’

Softcult are one of the most important bands in the scene, and their latest track just further cements it.

Softcult have shared a new song, and it’s another hard-hitting and vital piece of shoegazing wonder.

It’s called ‘Dress’ and, despite its uplifting instrumental, is about an incredibly important subject.

Consent in all of its forms.

The pair deal it out with openness, honesty and bravery whilst making sure that the message gets stuck in your head as much as the melody.

It’s another brilliant offering from one of the best bands of right now.

Mercedes Arn-Horn had this to say about it:

“This song is about consent; it’s about saying ‘no’ and having it happen to you anyway. It’s about being followed while walking alone at night or being cornered in a bar when we’re just trying to have a night out with our friends. It’s about the lingering fear and trauma that haunts us long after these experiences have happened. It’s about how these experiences make us feel powerless and change the way we see ourselves.”

You can check it out alongside a video that comes with a trigger warning for sexual assault, so approach with caution:

The track is set to appear on the band’s upcoming EP ‘See You In The Dark’ which will be released on March 24 via Easy Life Records.
