Linkin Park recently sparked speculation about their future after posting a 100-hour countdown timer on their social media handles. The website URL was showing a YouTube livestream with the same timer. However, when the countdown reached zero, the timer on their website switched and started to count up and it disappointed the fans. Fans noticed that the timer glitched at specific times, including exactly at 9:05, leading them to think an announcement might come on September 5th.

It has come to light that the timer again ended at 100 hours. With a minute left, a mysterious purple image appeared and it looked like it could be Mike Shinoda.

Meanwhile, Linkin Park’s announcement of an event on September 5th has also got fans excited. The band has invited fans to “Be Part Of Something,” reserved for LPUnderground members on September 5th. The band appears to be live streaming the event on Thursday, September 5.

A message on the band’s official website reads simply: “Be part of something. September 5.” They also released a waiver for the event.

Taking on the role of Linkin Park’s frontman is no small task. Chester Bennington’s voice and stage presence were integral to the band’s identity, and any successor would need to respect that legacy while bringing something new to the table. Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley was rumored to be filling in for the late Chester Bennington.

Billboard reported that Linkin Park’s booking agency WME is now taking offers for concerts and festivals featuring Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson and Dave Farrell. It’s not clear who will succeed Bennington but it is also reported that the band are looking for a female vocalist for their reunion.
